"Civil Protection Law" enacted in the ordinary Diet session in 2004

Individual legislation necessary for responses to armed attack situations etc. (situation response legislation) were established in line with the Armed Attack Situation Response Law. They are called the Seven Emergency-Related Laws. The “Civil Protection Law” is one of them. It was enacted in June 2004 and enforced in September 2004.

The Civil Protection Law stipulates the responsibilities of the national and local governments and measures, such as evacuation, relief, and response to armed attack disaster in order to protect the lives, bodies, and property of the people from armed attacks and minimize the adverse effects inflicted upon people’s livelihoods etc. in armed attack situations etc.
